Lifestyle Made in Italy
On 12th-13th October at Hotel de l’Opera Hanoi, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) organized the 2-day event “Lifestyle Made in Italy” with the purpose of promoting Italian furniture & building materials in Asia in general and in Vietnam in particular.
On two consecutive working days, 8 Italian companies had B2B meetings with about 45 potential partners from Vietnam, Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, India and the UAE. The event was attended by the Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Cecilia Piccioni and the Italian Vice ambassador to Vietnam Natalia Sanginiti.

In response to media questions, ICHAM President Michele D'Ercole said that Vietnam is considered a key gateway to Asian markets for Italian commercial investment thanks to its strategic geographic location which facilitates easier connection with other countries in the region. In addition, Vietnam has signed many free trade agreements (FTA), including the Vietnam - Korea FTA, Vietnam – Japan EPA, AFTA, and especially the EVFTA (which is expected to take effect in 2018). As a result, it would be easier for Italian enterprises to get access to other markets in the region once they enter Vietnamese market.
From a business perspective, although Vietnam is considered as a potential market, the introduction of large Italian companies to Vietnam remains difficult. Bringing partners from different countries familiar with “Made in Italy” products to Vietnam, therefore, helps Italian businesses pay more attention to this emerging market.
After the event, ICHAM has received many enquiries from Italian enterprises who intend to explore and invest in Vietnam, showing that they were seriously concerned about Vietnam’s investment opportunities. Then, with the mission of promoting commercial trade relation between Italy and Vietnam, ICHAM continues to implement other projects to bring Vietnam closer to Italian investors.
