On June 20th, 2018, ICHAM celebrated 10 years of activities with a dinner party at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel in Hanoi preceded by a concert organized by the Italian Embassy in Hanoi. On this special occasion, ICHAM Chairman Mr. Michele D’Ercole welcomed ICHAM members and partners to thank them for their trust in the Chamber and to express gratitude for all the support received through this decade of work.
Among the distinguished guests, H.E. Cecilia Piccioni, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs Provincial and former Ambassador to Italy, Mrs Miriam Garcia Ferrer First Counselor Head of Trade Economic Affairs of the EU delegation, Mrs. Trang Le, CEO and founder of Vietnam International Fashion Week, a delegation of the Italian Department of Hanoi University, members and partners of the Chamber.
Mr. Michele D’Ercole took the stage to thank the tireless ICHAM staff, present and former, for their crucial contribution on the Chamber’s growth, the Italian and Vietnamese institutions, the members of the Board, and the entrepreneurial community who supported the Chamber and continue to bring closer the Italian and Vietnamese markets. ICHAM was born on October 22nd, 2008, by a vision of Italian business personalities; having started as a Italian Business Association, was then recognized by the Italian Minister of Development and Economics and became part of Assocamerestero, today is also one of EuroCham partners, and consortium partner of EU-Vietnam Business Network (EVBN), project co-founded by the European Union.
H.E. Cecilia Piccioni, Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam, underlined the key role played by the Chamber, and complimented the Chairman, the Executive Director Mr. Hoang Hai Pham, and the staff for the partnerships they were able to create between Italy and Vietnam. The Italian Ambassador remarked how ICHAM 10-year anniversary coincides with the 45th year of Diplomatic Relations between Italy and Vietnam and expressed her delight in seeing the achievements of the Italian business community in Vietnam.
Mr. Gianluca Fiume, President of Piaggio Vietnam, took the floor showcasing the successful case of PIAGGIO, which is also celebration its 10 years anniversary of activities in Vietnam, country chosen to serve as hub for the ASEAN market, choice that brought pride to the Italian brand.
During the night, prizes were awarded not only to ICHAM’s ten years oldest members,CAE, CARVICO (Hung Yen Knitting & Dyeing) , UNICREDIT and PIAGGIO, but also to Mrs. Nguyen Hoang Anh, student of the Italian Department in Hanoi University and winner of the contest to create ICHAM’s anniversary logo. H.E Cecilia Piccioni, and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Long, former Ambassador of Vietnam to Italy, were also honoured for their valuable support.
ICHAM would like to thank all the participants, the Institutions of both countries, the members and friends who joined to celebrate this milestone. The Chamber will continue to work to bring Italy and Vietnam even closer and a similar anniversary event will be held towards the end of the year in Ho Chi Minh City, organized in collaboration with the Consulate General in HCMC and the Consul Mr. Dante Brandi.
