Founded in 1894, Ghella is a leading company in the construction of major infrastructure projects worldwide. With its unique skills and experience in underground works, Ghella is involved in the construction of many infrastructure projects such as subways, railways, motorways and major roads, significant water and hydraulic works. While still having its corporate office in Rome, Italy, the Company has most of its workload in the international markets, mostly in Oceania, Far East, Latin America, and Europe.

The Company specializes in tunneling and has successfully implemented more than 200 km of tunnels and has also accumulated the previous experiences of using TBM Earth Pressure Balance (EPB). Ghella opened a Representative Office in Hanoi in July of 2015. On the 30th of October 2015 the joint venture (JV) Hyundai Engineering & Construction (Korean) and Ghella (Italy) signed a Contract with the Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) to build 4,1km of underground works including a bi-tube tunnel and four stations. This project is the largest and most important one among the nine packages of Hanoi Pilot Metro Line Project, Nhon – Hanoi railway station section (Metro Line 3) and the first underground metro project in the capital city of Vietnam.

Ghella’s primary interests in Vietnam are the metro lines in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City as well as all those underground works which require extensive experiences of using TBM Earth Pressure Balance (EPB).
