Webinar “Green Economy in Vietnam & Opportunities for Italian Companies”

On July 21st, 2022, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) in collaboration with EuroCham, Bestiani Engineering Company (BEC) and Intesa Sanpaolo hosted the webinar “Green Economy in Vietnam & Opportunities for Italian Businesses” via Zoom, welcomed the participation of 27 Italian businesses representatives.

In this webinar specially organized for Italian business community, ICHAM Executive Director and our guest speakers shared insights on the highly potential market of green sectors in Vietnam.

Following Vietnam’s commitment to net-zero at the Conference of the Parties (COP26), green growth is seen as a key approach for Vietnam to realize the goal of sustainable development with the people at the core, and eventually prosperity.

In order to help Vietnam achieve the transition, ICHAM in cooperation with the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham Vietnam) is calling for European businesses, especially Italian businesses operating in green sectors to join the Vietnam market and bring advanced technology and products to the Green Economy Forum & Exhibition (GEFE) 2022 on November 28th-30th, 2022.

Opening the webinar, Mr. Quyet Tran – Executive Director of ICHAM shared:

“At the 26th United Nations Climate Change conference scheduled in Glasgow, Vietnam made a commitment with other countries in the world about the effort to reduce methane, carbon emissions and the Vietnamese government is always supported by both the national and international business community to achieve it. In the same field, EuroCham plays an essential role and has promoted the initiative called GEFE with the aim of organizing a forum focused on the green economy sector. For this reason, together with the European chambers in the European chamber system in Vietnam, we – the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) have responded to the call of EuroCham and we are organizing today’s webinar to inform you further of the purpose of the initiative and to present a picture of the current situation of the green economy in Vietnam including the prospects and opportunities for European and Italian companies in the Vietnamese market.”

Following Mr. Quyet’s sharing were Mr. Tomaso Andreatta – The Intesa Sanpaolo in Vietnam works with Vietnamese banks and through ICHAM, it has become a member of EuroCham. EuroCham Vietnam plays an important role especially in creating a favorable environment for business development by collaborating with the Vietnamese authorities. About the GEFE project, Mr. Andreatta said:

“It is truly a unique and ambitious platform for those who want to have a presence here in Vietnam and with more than 10 years of existence in Vietnam, GEFE shows the green economy capacity of European societies… The sectors covered by GEFE are very broad and range from energy to the management of the circular economy to combat pollution of air, water, land, etc.”

With the support of ICHAM, many companies, especially SMEs, have better arrangements with fewer financial resources. The exhibition will include the Italian pavilion which is managed by ICHAM and dedicated to companies that wished to bring their Made-in-Italy quality products and technologies to the exhibition. Mr. Andreatta also indicated Vietnam’s strengths:

“Vietnam has been growing steadily for over 20 years and is heading up the scale of quality. The country has also successfully surpassed the Covid pandemic and maintains a stable policy along with favorable relations, friendship with all countries around the world. Italian companies could head for the agri-food chain, which is now more and more important, or for the sustainable industry that is becoming both extensive and crucial for Vietnam.”

Established in VN in 2018, Bestiani’s Engineering Company has rich experiences of the solar system and specializes in Bestiani’s renewable energy by focusing on all phases of the photovoltaic system supply chain on industrial roofs. BEC has installed its systems many important European investors in VN such as Bonfiglioli, Datalogic, Deep C, etc. Stated Dr. Bestiani:

“Thanks to the support of ICHAM who collaborated with us organizing promotional events, educating the local market towards the use of technologies to make oneself understood and see how the photovoltaic system on industrial roofs works. The electronic market in Vietnam is undergoing great development, that is, the country has a strong industrial value and the growth of GDP therefore accompanies the growth of energy consumption. Vietnam is stabilizing on pollution emissions, so it is trying to introduce measures to control and reduce pollution. What BEC is proposing to the local market is not only the cult of integrating solar systems on the roofs of factories in Vietnam but also the solution of saving the cost of electricity; the reduction of temperature and improvement of the working conditions inside the factory.”

The webinar wrapped up with a Q&A session and concluding session to highlight the main discussion points. The recording is available for public watch via the link below: https://youtu.be/MzLM1WDOGVw
