In recent days, Typhoon Yagi has struck Vietnam, causing severe devastation across several northern provinces. With powerful winds and torrential rains, the typhoon has destroyed homes, damaged public infrastructure, and triggered widespread flooding. Provinces such as Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Thai Nguyen, Yen Bai, and others have been particularly hard-hit, with roads submerged, agricultural lands ruined, and communities isolated by landslides and floods. Thousands of people are now facing a shortage of essential supplies, drinking water, and safe shelter.
Preliminary reports from local authorities indicate that the typhoon has resulted in significant damage to property and livelihoods, with farming families being especially affected. Roads have been cut off, and flooded agricultural areas have compounded the difficulties faced by communities in the aftermath of the storm.
In response to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee’s appeal for assistance, ICHAM is calling on all Members and Partners to join in supporting those affected by Typhoon Yagi. This is a vital opportunity for us to come together, demonstrate our solidarity, and fulfill our shared social responsibility by helping those in need.
In these challenging times, the deep bond of friendship and support between the Italian and Vietnamese people becomes even more evident. Italians and Vietnamese have a long-standing tradition of assisting each other in times of crisis, and this spirit of mutual support has been a key element in the enduring partnership between our two nations. Now, in the face of the significant losses caused by Typhoon Yagi, we ask all ICHAM Members and Partners to unite in helping the people of Vietnam recover and rebuild their lives.
