Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie flies to Vietnam for the Vietnam Best Sommelier in Italian Wines 2025

The promotion of Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie, led by the Protection Consortium, continues in emerging markets, particularly in Southeast Asia. On 25 July, in fact, Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie will be a key feature of the first edition of the Vietnam Best Sommelier in Italian Wines, an initiative organised by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (ICHAM) under the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Hanoi and the Consulate General of Italy in Ho Chi Minh City, in collaboration with the Italian Professional Sommelier Association (ASPI) and the Vietnam Sommelier Association (VSA).

The event, to be held in Ho Chi Minh City at the prestigious The Reverie Saigon Hotel, aims to promote the excellence of Italian wines in Vietnam by highlighting the role of the sommelier through a competition that will test knowledge and skills in Italian wine service and tasting. The initiative is part of the “A Taste of Italian Wines” project, launched by ICHAM in 2022, and involves various selection phases culminating in a prestigious final and a gala dinner attended by authorities, media, and stakeholders in the wine and hospitality sectors.

During the event, Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie will be featured at a tasting desk and as the focus of a dedicated masterclass, led by Brand Ambassador Paul Vo. Here, an audience of professionals and operators in the food and wine industry will be guided to discover the iconic and distinctive style of the world’s most consumed still Italian white wine through the tasting of a selection of labels.

Following its debut and the extremely positive feedback received last year, this is a unique opportunity to continue bringing the character and identity of the denomination to the Vietnamese market—an important milestone in the ever-expanding journey of valorising Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie in non-EU countries.

Stefano Sequino, Director of the Consorzio DOC delle Venezie, comments:

“The Vietnamese market represents one of the most dynamic and interesting realities in Southeast Asia, and our goal is to support and tell the story of our territorial and cultural identity, transferring the knowledge of the Triveneto winegrowing regions and the values of Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie in terms of freshness, versatility, and contemporary style. This is a strategic activity we are pursuing thanks to our collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam,” continues Sequino, “with the aim of building new networks with specialised audiences such as buyers, journalists, and professionals in the sector.”

Tran Thanh Quyet, Executive Director of ICHAM, also comments:

“The Vietnamese market is showing increasing interest in fresh, light, and versatile white wines—qualities that perfectly describe Pinot Grigio DOC delle Venezie. Thanks to the modern tastes of local consumers and the expansion of mid- and high-range restaurants, we foresee an increasingly important place for this wine on wine lists across Vietnam. We are particularly proud to have the Pinot Grigio delle Venezie Consortium by our side as the official partner of this first edition in Vietnam.”
